I will be presenting at this event on ‘Codependency – releasing the inner child from pain to allow the adult to mature’

‘Addictions to alcohol, substances and many behavioural compulsions can cause harm and distress, not only to clients but on family and the wider community. One of the key challenges in supporting this client group is that the underlying causes of addiction can be extremely varied and often unclear or misunderstood.

This one day CPD event will include presentations from a range of experts, who will aim to support our knowledge and understanding of this client group. We will explore some of the drivers behind addiction and practically apply these explanations to working with addicted clients.

Topics will include the neuroscience of addiction, cognitive/environment/person centred approaches to understanding addiction and the central role of trauma and attachment theories. There will also be some exploration of client boundaries and working with multiple agencies in addiction work.’
